History of Crowley

In 1848, some pioneers started to farm the area around Deer Creek.  When the Gulf Colorado & Santa Fe Railroad built pens and laid tracks in the present downtown Crowley, the pioneers settled one mile west of it.  In 1855 the first railroad station depot was built.  Crowley was named after S.H. Crowley that was the master for the railroad at the time.  On February 3, 1951 an election was held to approve the incorporation of Crowley and on September 3, 1972 the town council voted to change the Town of Crowley to the City of Crowley.
